This page contains answers to common questions handled by our support staff, along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and presented here as questions.
- Why is the character not producing any speech output?
- Speech recognition has problems understanding my voice?
- Speech recognition has many false-positives?
- I made a group command but it does not behave as I expected?
- "An error occurred while creating an XML document" message?
- I installed the speech recognition engine but I still get
the message that it is not installed (Windows 98/ME)?
- My trial version expired just a few days after installation?
- How to prevent Qubit Master from starting
automatically?

We assume here that the text balloon is showing up. Then there are two
cases:
- Character is moving its lips while talking. This means that
Text-To-Speech (TTS) engine is properly installed and recognized by the
Agent character. Make sure you can here any sounds from the computer.
- Character's lips are not moving. This means that TTS engine has not been
installed properly. Close Qubit Master, open the folder 'C:\Program
Files\Qubit Master\Installs' (that is 'Installs' subfolder of the Qubit
Master's folder). Double-click on the 'spchapi.exe' and wait for the
installation to finish. Double-click on the 'tv_enua.exe' and follow the
onscreen instructions. Once finished, reboot the system.

Speech recognition (SR) engine's accuracy will improve drastically once it
is trained. Every training session takes 10-15 minutes and consists of
reading specified text to the microphone. To start a training session, go to
the Qubit Master's Voice menu, select Voice
Recognition->Training... and follow the onscreen instructions.

Directional microphones are preferred choice for voice recognition
applications. They will eliminate most of the surrounding noise and reduce the
possibility of the false recognition. Qubit Master also provides for users to
set the recognition confidence level (LOW, MID, HIGH). Increasing the
confidence level will eliminate a lot of false recognitions. A side effect of
this would be that some of your voice commands will not be recognized. More
training will solve this.

There could be several reasons for this. To troubleshoot the command try
one or more of the following:
- Add 1-2 second pause after every command (alternatively you can
temporarily just increase the inter-command delay in the settings).
That way you can follow what each command is doing. If it executed fine,
that means there are some delays missing (keys are being pressed before
target windows are open, buttons are looked for before dialogs are open
etc.),
- Use SayEx() commands to
announce every command in the group. It can point to the problematic part
of the group since you will be aware at which point things went wrong,
- Execute commands one by one, manually (without using Qubit Master), and
see if the end result is as expected,
- When filling internet forms it is advised that key presses (like
pressing Tab key to move from field to field) be separated by a longer
delay than usual. Good starting point is around 1/2 a second i.e. using Wait(50)
command.

This error is an indicator that one of the necessary components are not
present. (It is the MSXML Parser version 3.0 service pack 2).
To install this component please download it from here,
double-click the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.

Make sure Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher) is installed on your system.

Administrative privileges (Windows 2000/XP) are required when running the
trial version. If you are not sure what this means, please check with your
system administrator.

You need to have administrative privileges (Windows 2000/XP) to
perform this operation successfully.
Open the Options dialog (Options button on
the toolbar). Go to the Advanced tab and select the Startup
category. Find the "Start on Bootup" option and change it from
"Yes" to "No" (by just clicking on "Yes"
and selecting "No" from the menu). Close the dialog with the
"OK" button.
