Speech recognition (SR) is a relatively new technology that is
starting to gain wider acceptance as the development of more powerful personal
computers makes it more feasible.
To use speech recognition with Qubit Master follow the steps below:
- Make sure that SR engine is actually needed by starting Qubit Master and verifying
that SR Off toolbar button is pressed and cannot be released
(otherwise skip to step 5),
- Download Speech Recognition engine (~32MB) here,
- Double-click the downloaded file QMSREngine.msi and follow
the onscreen instructions,
- Reboot the system if asked to do so, otherwise just restart Qubit Master,
- From the main menu select Voice->Voice Recognition->Microphone
Settings... to adjust SR engine to your particular microphone,
- From the main menu select Voice->Voice
Recognition->Training... to train the SR engine. Follow the
onscreen instructions.
IMPORTANT: Although SR engine can be used without training,
its accuracy will be dramatically improved by just one training session. One
training session takes 10-15 minutes and it gives the SR engine an
opportunity to get "used" to the user's voice.
- Add voice command phrases to some of the
available commands,
- Bring up the Qubit Master's main window, make sure SR is turned on (volume
is never zero if SR is on),
- Speak out a voice command. Check whether the corresponding command gets
executed. Also, look at what is displayed on the Status Window (User
bar). If a phrase was recognized, it will be displayed there together
with an indicator of confidence (one, two or three stars).
NOTE: If recognition confidence for a particular phrase is
below the confidence threshold (LOW, MID or HIGH) set by the user, the
corresponding command will not be executed.
- The only way to get a hang of it is to play with it. Enjoy...
